Every year since 2007, Apple has released a new iPhone. This year, however, there are two, both available from Friday – a recognition that Apple needed to win back customers from Samsung and other rivals.

With the new models Apple seeks to appeal to two groups: the high-end smartphone buyer, formerly iPhone-loyal, as well as the customer who wants something funkier, brighter and cheaper.

Only a bit cheaper, mind. The iPhone 5c is a middle-range priced phone, but looks glamorous and classy. No corners have been cut – this is a more powerful phone than last year’s iPhone 5, with a longer-lasting battery and improved front-facing camera.

The plastic case is smooth, astonishingly shiny and warm  to the touch – the smooth edges and exceptional build quality make it one of the most appealingly comfy-in-the-hand phones.

It comes in five colours – all of them dazzling. They match the new, radically overhauled operating system.

Incidentally, for a cheaper iPhone, you’re looking at the iPhone 4s which stays on sale at a lower price. Even this feels fresh thanks to the new software. Some owners will feel the free software upgrade – available to download today for all handsets from the iPhone 4 onwards – offers enough innovation to make buying a new phone a low priority. Innovations like FaceTime audio which routes phone calls through the data network: these sound crisp and sharp, often better than traditional voice calls, in my experience.

Smartphones War : Apple vs Google : who do you think is winning?

Has Apple outsmarted Google?

Once allies, now clearly foes, Apple and Google have been in an intense battle to win the hearts and minds of people across the planet. And while Apple has lost its dominance and market-share to Google’s Android, you could argue that the Cupertino-based giant has outsmarted its Mountain View rival.

If we look purely at the numbers then we all know that Google is the clear leader. Relying on various brands, like Samsung and HTC, Android has swamped our markets with phones ranging from the low-cost Galaxy Pocket to the more sophisticated Samsung S3. Samsung has a clear edge on the market.

But while inroads are being made in the mobile arena, Android is still dominated by Apple’s iPad in the tablet market. It’s still the “tablet of choice” for the discerning user and Apple fired three volleys this year with the launch of the “New iPad” in the first quarter of 2012, followed by the “New New iPad” and the iPad Mini.

Google entered the fray itself this year, launching the Nexus 7; low-priced and accessible to the masses.

Which is actually my point.

While we all seem to think that Google and Apple have the same target market, I’d like to suggest that they don’t. Apple firmly remains the world favourite.

Grand Theft Auto V(GTA 5) Hints,Cheat Code for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC

  You must enter the GTA 5 cheat codes on the gamepad, much like classic GTA games. Use the D-pad to enter the directional commands (LEFT, RIGHT etc.). These codes must be executed fairly quickly. A small confirmation will appear above the map. Entering cheat codes disables Achievements and Trophies only for the current play session.

Secret Messages on GTA 5 Map

There are secret messages on the Special Edition version of the paper pack-in GTA 5 map. The messages can be seen only with a UV (black) light. 
The lengthiest message reads:
T.P.E - Trevor Philips Enterprises. Weaponry, narcotics, intimidation and casual wear. Lago Zan Cudo. Great Ocean, Highway north, through north Chumash, 0.5 miles past Raton Canyon. When guard rail ends, follow the dirt road down the docks. Bring $500,000 cash.
 
Additional messages can be found on other parts of the map referencing aliens and the Buzzer and Lazer aircraft.

 
Visiting the Location indicated by the secret message takes the player to a remote dock available for sale. The Minisub is stored there, and offshore a number of Nuclear Waste barrels may be gathered for cash. 
Visiting the Location indicated by the flying saucer reveals an extremely well concealed Spaceship Part.

iOS 7 released

As announced last week, Apple is expected to release the iOS 7, the new version of Apple's mobile operating system, today.

Here are the expected release timings for the iOS 7 in some of the key cities around the world:

Starting from today the new software will roll out onto Apple’s devices, though only from the latest models onwards, starting from the iPhone 4, iPad 2 and latest generation iPod (scroll down to the bottom of this article to see a chart of all compatible devices). In addition, iOS 7 will of course be available on the new iPhone models – the 5S and 5C – from their release date on 20 September.

 Designed by Jony Ive, iOS 7, since its introduction at WWDC 2013, has divided opinion across the board. But that was always going to be the case – iOS 7 is the biggest change to iOS since the introduction of the first iPhone.

BlackBerry overtakes Apple in Mobile Wars

• Google's Android Gaining Market Share

Boston, USA and Dublin, Ireland; Wednesday 1st December, 2010: BlackBerry OS overtook Apple's iOS for the first time in the US in November in terms of mobile internet usage according to web analytics company, StatCounter. The company's research arm, StatCounter Global Stats finds that for the first time in the US BlackBerry OS at 34.3% overtook Apple's iOS which recorded 33% in November.

Google's Android is rapidly gaining and has almost tripled internet market share from 8.2% last November to 23.8% this year. Apple's iOS has fallen from 51.9% to 33% over the same period.

"These figures suggest that developers should not be developing solely for the iPhone to the exclusion of BlackBerry and Android," commented Aodhan Cullen, CEO, StatCounter. He added that, if current trends continue, BlackBerry and Android combined are on course to become twice the size of iOS as regards mobile internet usage in the next year.

Commenting on Microsoft's new Windows Phone 7 he said that it was not yet registering significantly in terms of internet usage but would be interesting to observe over the next year. "This data demonstrates that there is a battle royal already going on in the smartphone market for the consumer and business internet user. You can never underestimate Microsoft but it looks to have its work cut out."

BlackBerry's US lead is not replicated in terms of worldwide share according to the StatCounter data. Globally Symbian OS leads with 31.9% followed by iOS (21.9%), BlackBerry OS (19.3%) and Android (11.6%).

StatCounter Global Stats are based on aggregate data collected by StatCounter on a sample exceeding 15 billion page views per month collected from across the StatCounter network of more than three million websites.
